There are contests being run online all the time. Naturally you have to be careful to avoid the scammier ones that offer you no chance of winning but take an entry fee, often disguised as a text message charge, just for the hope of winning. But you can improve your chance of winning online contests with these few simple tips.
1. Complete your entry form
This sounds stupidly obvious but you'd be surprised how many people miss a small detail that could make or break their likelihood of winning.
Make sure that you fill out all the appropriate boxes on your entry form so that you maximize your chance of being chosen as a contest winner.
2. Don't ignore smaller competitions
Lots of people only enter the bigger competitions. The ones where the prizes are big such as cash or a holiday.
Whilst you should certainly enter these contests, don't do so at the expense of the many smaller contests that almost certainly have a smaller amount of people taking part. Those smaller numbers automatically increase your chance of winning. They also help you to hone your skills so that you can also increase your chance of winning the larger contests over time.
3. Read the rules
Tie breakers are often used in contests.
If you have to complete a slogan in 15 words or less, chances are that you'll have the maximum chance of success if you use close to the maximum number of words allowed. After all, if the contest judges wanted you to use 12 words, they'd have said 12 words or less.
4. Set up alerts
It's easy to get distracted and miss new contests if you're not organized.
One way of making sure that you don't miss an important contest is to set up an alert.
It could be that your favorite contest sites offer you the chance to get an email when there's a new contest that fits your criteria. If so, sign up with your best email address!
If that isn't on offer then set up a Google Alert to notify you. Sometimes this is offered at the end of the search results but if it isn't, just search for Google alers and you'll be taken to the online form that will monitor the web on your behalf so that you can get on with the important task of actually entering contests.
5. Use a form filler
Whilst your browser may kind-if complete the various boxes on screen by offering you a drop down list of options, that's nowhere near as efficient as using a form filler to complete all the boxes at once.
There are usually free versions of these tools that you can use, usually with the idea of getting you to upgrade to the paid-for version to get some extra bells and whistles.
Try out a form filler and take the time to train it to complete as many boxes as possible on the various contest sites that you use. The time you save will easily allow you to enter yet more contests!
